As the year heads to, it is a very big year for the cricketing fans and a very busy time for the cricketers and the boards. There is cricket world cup which flags off in England from May 30 to July 14 2019. As the cricketing season heats up there is also the 12th season of the Indian Premier League which is still buffling with the venue aspects.
The Indian Premier League usually begins in the first week of April and then ends in the last week of May. But this year it cannot be the same as the World Cup is also starting from 30th of May and there has to be a 15 day gap between the two.
There is also a possibility of shifting the venue from India to abroad as the Loksabha elections are also lined up in that season. Earlier also the Indian cricket board (BCCI) had hosted the season abroad in South Africa in the year 2009 and UAE in the year 2014. But this time the broadcasters are not in the favor of shifting the IPL abroad as there are many logistics and other factors that may increase the cost.
BCCI CEO Rahul Johri is still trying the best way to host IPL in India but being the election season it is very difficult for the officials to carry out the process. The broadcasters Star India along with the eight franchises expressed their views so as not to shift IPL as it causes a lot of havoc to the logistics department.
Getting permissions from the government officials is also a big issue. The main reason for the shifting the venue is the security, as the government will not be able to provide much as they will be busy in their government duty.
The fixtures also faces a problem as the World Cup clashes with the usual fixture. The IPL in the usual terms starts in the 1st week of April and ends in the last week of May will be now brought forward. According to sources, this year IPL may start in the last week of March and then get over by the first week of May.
Being one of the most popular leagues in the world, the fans in India are eagerly waiting for the IPL to start and experience the best of it.
