After one more year IPL was back with its auction which was held on December 18. It was in the afternoon, when all the eight teams begin their bidding for grabbing the best from the players in the auction. There were 351 players for sale on Tuesday out of which 60 were taken by the teams which will play in the IPL 2019.Out of which 40 were Indians and 20 were overseas. Of the 60, there were eight who grabbed above Rs.5 Crore mark, they were Sam Curran, Carlos Brathwaite, Colin Ingram, Axar Patel and Jaydev Unadkat. Relatively obscure names like Shivam Dube and Varun Chakravarthy. At Rs 8.4 crore, Chakravarthy was the joint highest bid of the day with Unadkat. The total money spent on Tuesday was Rs.1,06,80,00,000.
New Zealand legend batsman and former KKR and RCB superstar remained unsold for the upcoming season. Also it was shocking to see Yuvraj Singh to be sold at the third round of the auction that to at the base price of 1 crore INR to Mumbai Indians. Jaydev Unadkat was the top again grabbing INR 8.4 Crore with Rajasthan Royals. He was followed by Varun Chakaravarthy at the same price by Kings XI Punjab. The third top pick was Sam Curran who will be debuting in IPL grabbed 7.2 Crore and was the higgest grabbing overseas players.
