Reliance Jio in talks for developing big screen smartphones.


Reliance Jio who is now ruling the telecom industry for now is in the news for developing a big screen smartphones. The main idea is to transform the population using feature phones  to use smartphones. Reliance Jio along with their partners from US are together carrying on this project. They are known for providing affordable data connection that to 4g and now they are coming up with their big screen smartphones which are told to be affordable so that most of the people can avail the offer. It is to carter the citizens who are still using feature phones so that they can make the use of the technology available at a cheap and affordable price.

Reliance Jio is usually I talks with the US based firm named Flex which is a contract manufacturer. Flex to manufacture the smartphones  locally. As per the reports, Jio is in advance talks for a large order and that has caused a stir in the market. Flex currently has a factory in Chennai. It has a capacity to manufacture for around 4-5 million devices in a month. It is located at a special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Chennai.

Reliance Jio should offer more than just offering data to its customers. They should also take in to handle the maintenance of the smartphones  that they are developing along with 1GB of data a day. Another cost that the company has to bear is to provide the screen insurance. It is one of the concern that the feature phone users tend to have so as to bear the cost of screen repair.

In a related news, telecom sector experts and analyst recently told that Jio users may have to face interruptions in their services if the latest entrant is not able to buy spectrum from Reliance communications and the Anil Ambani owned telco gets pushed into insolvency. Recently,the Department of Telecommunication (DoT)refused to clear the RCom-Jio spectrum deal, saying that it didn’t conform to government rules.
